| A BIGGER Love |
This
project developed out of my increasing attraction to big, beefy, round
men whose exteriors exuded a manly perception. Whether or not my object
of desire was gay or straight, my attraction was apparent. And, as my
attraction for this type of man became larger so did the stature of the
men. They were tall, brawny, thick, hefty, and hairy. For the
most part, this was the definition of a bear.
The thing I admire most in bear culture is love for
all but, the desire for love gets mistaken for lust. Love and lust are
always in play and at battle in my search for self. It is love against
lust, or rather, my need versus my want. Can either be a guarantee of
something more fulfilling? This is the question I ask myself.
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have
some physical attraction to the men that I photograph. This is the main
reason I photograph them. All these men share a quality that I find
attractive, a characteristic that I admire or desire. |
